Mystery Jelly or: Granny, is that you?

Actually, it's a cinnamon apple butter. I think.

I opened it yesterday, because it was a rather opaque brown, and curiosity just got the better of me.

It was contained in a glass jar like the middle jar, only with the old fashioned two part lid consisting of a center piece and outer ring in a brass colored metal.

That style of jar is a 'Ball Quilted Crystal Jelly Jar'. That has a certain southern genteel ring to it.

It was oversweet, but with a good flavor. I'm enjoying it as I write this with crunchy peanut butter on wheat bread. (Yes, I'm typing by pressing keys with the sandwich.)

My only remorse, is that I don't know if my dear departed grandmother made it. She passed away in 2003. Which means this 'jelly' might be old, for jelly.

I mean, I'm not remorseful about eating old preserved goods, but I mean I wish I knew.

At worst, it's a lovely reminder because it's the sort of thing she might have made. If it were figs in a strawberry jello concoction, or just straight up figs then I could be more sure.

And if you know for a fact that you gave me some homemade apple butter, please keep it to yourself and leave me my illusions.

Anyone got biscuits made in a cast iron pan?

I'm guessing it's from Granny. What was the depth of the layer of dust on the top? That could help identify it.
Also, I don't think Mom uses the quilted jars.
