I've gotten over $200 in cash back from them at places I would have shopped anyway! Ebay, Staples, more! I put it at the top because they ROCK. Basically, you get a kickback from Ebates when buy.com or whoever pays them. Win-win. If you like throwing money away, don't use them!

Unlocking HTC Flyer Bootloader (and other HTC Devices) on Mac OS X

The instructions at http://htcdev.com/bootloader talk about Windows.

On Mac OS X , use Chrome to navigate that website, otherwise it won't start when you select the 'Begin Unlock Bootloader'. For me, Safari and Firefox didn't work.

If you have a US HTC Flyer, WiFi only, from Best Buy or buy.com as a refurb, you want to select 'All other supported models' or Flyer WWE WiFi, if I recall correctly.

All you really need is fastboot, from the Google SDK. I had it installed already, and the instructions are pretty straightforward. If you can't install the Google SDK or know what all this is about, you may be a bit over your head here.

Be advised: this WILL wipe your HTC Flyer. I used it to unlock my Honeycomb 3.2.1 bootloader.

Motor Trend Bay-to-Beach Discovery Drive Event Coverage

http://www.motortrend.com/baytobeachdiscoverydrive/home/

I've been seeing the commercials on the seatback TV while deadheading and one thing struck me:

Older/bald/etc. guys with younger/more attractive wives.

There's even a man well into his forties with gel product hair and get this: the sweater on his shoulders with the sleeves folded together thing!

Wow, if cool was a goal, they missed it.

How to get Free stuff at Amazon. Really! No limit on price!

A little background. I'm an Amazon seller, and I listed an item as 'New' but put in the description that it was open box, but had only been charged and had the firmware updated then placed back in the box.

So, there really shouldn't be any confusion here should there?

The buyer claimed that it wasn't as listed.

So, since I 'misrepresented' the product, the buyer gets to keep it and get a refund.

Here's where you start your Christmas shopping early!

How you get the free stuff:

1. Look through the guidelines here:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/customer/display.html?ie=UTF8&nodeId=1161242

2. Find an item that's comments don't meet the criteria. The easiest thing would perhaps be something listed as 'New' with comments indicating Open Box, perhaps.

3. Order it.

4. When it arrives, file an A to Z claim.

5. It takes a while but Amazon should refund your money, like they did with my buyer.

Alternate method:

Order anything fulfilled by any party not Amazon. Claim it wasn't in whatever condition it was listed as.

Enjoy your free item!

Never mind about the affiliate commissions they've screwed me out of. Friend of mine placed an order with several items, among them a large TV. Guess what item I didn't get the commission on? Strange that the small items were credited fine...and no, they won't fix it. I asked.

To my Sister: I'm sorry I sold you my Kindle Fire. Good luck with that!

Having trouble getting your iPod 6th generation nano recognized by itunes? Show up as a drive letter but not in iTunes?

Be prepared to uninstall, delete manually, and reboot a few times.

Start here:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925?viewlocale=it_it

Note that the uninstalls should be done in order.

I did the manual uninstalls too. I of course installed the latest version of iTunes from Apple.

Windows XP SP3 was my OS.

Not very Apple-like at all, Apple.

Worked fine on my Mac Pro of course.
