Craigslist Idiocracy

I know it may seem obvious but here's some stupid I've gotten lately.

1. 'Hey, how much would you take for this TODAY?' (Implying they are just oh so on the cusp of buying it.) Later: 'Oh, which model is it?' (I had posted the model in the body of the ad but not the title. So, they didn't even read my ad. I should have put: 'Your purchase constitutes a binding service contract at $100 per visit, with mandatory service once a week.')

So, rule of craigslist: decide if it's something you even want before you bother me.

2. 'Hey, do you still have it? I'm interested.' Well of course you are, did you have a question? I mean other than if I still had it? Followup questions by same person: 'Does it XYZ?' I had specific details of XYZ in the ad. Reading for comprehension. And you wonder how we get some of the elected officials that we do.

Related followup. I posted a $180 item on ebay with the option for people to make an offer. Their offer: $25. And $180 is a midrange price. I asked if that was a typo. Explains their feedback of '6'. No doubt they had trouble merely negotiating the site.
Rant off.

Web Award: Crappiest Corporate site, how doth thou suckest? Let me count the ways:

1. Ambiguous codes. Is that a zero or a one? Is it a K or an X?
2. Service unavailable.
3. Cannot contact 'Contact us now' now.
4. Sorry, your code is an old code and has expired. What, we're a shuttle full of rebels sneaking aboard the death Star II?
5. Far too much Flash animation. Really? I'd much rather the site WORK.
6. Having an open window makes the links at the top not work. You have to close it first. SUPER BAD!
7. I texted in a code from my phone, and it said when I registered I could claim the points. I registered my phone. Now my code has not been credited and yet it shows as 'used'. I think you have to wait 3 days for it to drop off again? Nice.
And the points for the rewards are getting higher. I must now drink 48 cans of coke to get a bumper sticker or some similar junk.

Xserve Xgrid

From the log:

Mar 2 12:01:45 xserve1 xgridagentd: Error: controller did not accept cookie. Remove this computer from the controller agent list and restart the agent.
Mar 2 12:01:45 xserve1 xgridagentd: exiting -- manual stop and start required.
Mar 2 12:01:45 xserve1 launchd: exited with exit code: 2
Mar 2 12:01:45 xserve1 launchd: respawning too quickly! throttling
Mar 2 12:01:45 xserve1 launchd: 1 more failure without living at least 60 seconds will cause job removal
Mar 2 12:01:45 xserve1 launchd: will restart in 10 seconds

To fix this, use the Xgrid admin app to remove the agent (in this case xserve1) that is not able to connect to the controller from the agent list in Xgrid admin. It appears if you add it manually, it has issues. Let it add itself basically by telling it which controller to use. In this case, my Macbook was the controller.

Thereafter, it sort of works. :) I think my app has an issue but that's another post.

Hey, look, Amazon deals!

Keyword Search

This is one of those keyword ads you might see for two completely different products.

I mean, COMPLETELY different. The Venn diagram for the two does not intersect at all.
