Wordpress Menus Not Going to the Right Places

After pulling my hair out trying to get a menu item on a non-editable theme to go to the right spot, i.e., '/' instead of '/home' which doesn't exist, is to install this plugin: http://www.fischercreativemedia.com/plugins/quick-page-post-redirect-plugin/ Now, any requests for /home will go to / which is just mydomain.com as intended.
